THE DEPARTURE

Hi there. Just got of the phone with Peter, today he finished day 3, staying in Bo Rai now. Tomorrow another day in the mountains of Thailand and so far, so good.

But let me update you about the past few days... :)

We left Saigon for Bangkok last Thursday, with a load of good luck and wishes.

What did I get myself into?
Checked into the hotel,
tried to fix the bike.
How did Simon do it again?
(Luckily there was a PRO Bike in town :)

Our friends joined us on Friday for a lovely intimate birthday diner    ...

More wishes for luck were send into the air  ...

The morning after,

Sure you know how it all works ???

Time for the real thing !

Take your marks...           get set...                             GO !!!

Driving the streets of Bangkok...

FIRST STOP: The Temple

A well protected bike,

and a well protected Peter ;)

Last ritual and by then we were really ready to leave the heat of Bangkok behind us.

Steven & Ingrid’s former driver drove us to Ko Chan, a 150 km out of Bangkok to Peter’s first stop.
After 100 km (it really takes that much to get out of Bangkok!) Peter started biking for real.

Last route check.              Don’t forget sunscreen!                Goodbye  !

Thanks again to Ing, Steven, Joss and Arthur for their support in making the start a truly unforgettable event.  Tomorrow more news about day 2, 3 and 4. The only picture I received so far tells enough :

MOUNTAINS AHEAD !

Great to know that all going well. We know Peter wants to get ahead of schedule, but rest and enjoy the adventure & noble cause......
